Staying in Gatlinburg
Gatlinburg is the busiest door into the national park, with a walkable downtown and chalets climbing the hillsides around it. Stay in town if you want to walk to dinner and the Parkway at night; pick a chalet up the ridge for views and space, and expect steep, winding driveways. Want quieter? Look at Wears Valley or Townsend.
