About & disclosures
Short version: this is a free, static guide site. There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no advertising trackers.
Server logs. Like nearly every website, our web server keeps standard access logs: your IP address, the page you asked for, the date and time, your browser type and the page that referred you. We use them to keep the site running, fix broken links and block abuse. We don’t sell them or use them to build profiles.
Trip planner and event finder. The planner and event-date forms work by putting your choices (dates, area, interests) in the page address. They aren’t saved to an account — there isn’t one — but like any page address they can show up in the server logs above.
Email. If you write to us, we get your email address and whatever you send. We use it only to answer you or act on your request.
myeasttn.com does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t run Google Analytics or any other analytics script. The site search runs in your browser from files on our own server.
We don’t run Google Analytics or any other analytics script today. If we add one (for example Google Analytics 4 or Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count visits and see which guides are useful, we’ll update this page before it goes live and say which service it is, what it collects (such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type) and how to opt out.
Status today: myeasttn.com shows no ads and sets no advertising cookies. This section explains what will apply if we join an advertising network (such as Mediavine or Raptive); we’ll name the network and update the date below before the first ad appears.
When a booking or shop partner’s link is on a page and you click it, the partner’s site may set a cookie so it can credit us if you buy or book. That cookie is set by the partner, under its own privacy policy, not by myeasttn.com. See our disclosures.
Many guides link out — to the National Park Service, state parks, TVA and local governments, and to our own shop and print partners (Printful, Fine Art America, Zazzle). Once you click through, that site’s own privacy policy applies, not this one. Shop and partner links are explained on our disclosures page.
The site isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
If we add anything that changes this — analytics, a newsletter, lodging booking links — we’ll update this page first and change the date below. Questions or requests about your data: [email protected].
