Local tip

Come in through Townsend, not Gatlinburg. You're close to the Cades Cove gate, the cabins are quieter, and the Foothills Parkway to Look Rock is right there for sunrise.

My East TN is a practical guide: where to park, when to go, what to check, and where to sleep — written by a local, not a tour company.
