Chickamauga Lake

Big main-channel lake running north from Chattanooga, with Harrison Bay and Booker T. Washington state parks on its shore.

Chickamauga Lake is on the Tennessee River itself — the main channel — between Watts Bar Dam upstream and Chickamauga Dam at Chattanooga. The Hiwassee River joins the Tennessee in this lake.

It’s a big, long lake with a well-known bass-fishing reputation. Main-channel lakes have navigation locks and barge traffic, and they stay fuller year-round than the mountain tributary lakes. Two Tennessee state parks sit on its shore.
