Fort Loudoun Lake

Where the Tennessee River begins — Knoxville’s riverfront down to the dam at Lenoir City.

Fort Loudoun Lake is the first lake on the Tennessee River itself. It starts at Knoxville, where the Holston and French Broad meet, and runs down to Fort Loudoun Dam at Lenoir City — the uppermost dam on the river.

Knoxville’s downtown riverfront sits on it, and a short canal connects it to Tellico Lake next door.
